Q: When converting a database
from Access to MySQL, will MyDB Converter carry
over the indexes set in each table in Access?
A: yes, MyDbConverter
supports Access indexes and will carry over the indexes
set in each table in Access database to Mysql
Q: Are there any constraints on
number of fields or number of records in the conversion
process? I have some fairly large tables
A: there is no limitation
in the number of fields or the number of records
Q :I want to convert ms
Access tables into MYSQL which is running on Linux ,Is
your product designed so that I can connect from windows
box to Linux server?
A: You can convert your
MS Access DB to MySQL running on Linux by following
these steps:
Run MyDB Converter on the windows Machine and select
to convert from Access to MySQL.
In the "Connect to MySQL server" step, provide the connection
information as follows:
1).. Host: The IP of the Linux machine if you are connecting
Via a LAN. or the URL of the MySQL server if you are
connecting through the internet.
2).. Port Number: The port number that MySQL Accepts
the connections on, (use the default value for most
cases).
3). Your user name and password, (Note that the this
user account must have the appropriate privilege.
4).. select the target MySQL database.
you can test the previous steps with the demo version
as well
Q:What
is Synchronization and why it's Important?
A: Synchronization
is a new feature in MyDbConverter2
enables you to convert any changes in the source Access
database to the existing target MySQL database.
In the opposite of overwrite ,with this new feature
MyDbConverter wont drop the target database first
or drop any tables in it. MyDbConverter will append
new records as well as new fields, if any, to the target
MySQL database, leaving any other data or fields intact.
Synchronization is
strongly recommended if you would like to import
Access tables to an existing Mysql database that you
would like to keep it's existing data and structure
untouched .
Q: I'm trying to convert a (local)
Access database to a (remote) MySQL database. What value
(and its format) should I put in the "Host" field when
connect to MySQL? Do I need to change the port number?
A: For a remote connection to MySQL server you should
consider the following:
-
First, You should make sure that
the remote server you are trying to connect to allows
remote connections, Some server disable remote connections
for some security reasons.
-
If your server allows remote
connections, you should ask for the exact connection
info: Server name, user name, password and the used
port number.
-
You should also make sure that
you have enough privileges to Create/Drop tables
or databases as required by the conversion process.
Q: I have previously created
a scheduled task that runs every certain period of time.
How can I disable, delete or edit this task?
A: Just open the windows control panel,
select Scheduled Tasks item. Then double click
on the task you want to edit. This will open the task
properties window where you can change
the task settings.
Q: I am using windows 2000/XP,
The task is created successfully but it doesn't run?
A: You probably forgot to supply you windows
user name and password. In case of windows XP or windows
2000 the windows task scheduler will not run the task
unless you supply a user name and password (Windows
account) in the task properties window.
